Description

This flyscreen uses 9mm or 11mm thick frame with the different color for your selection.

You can also choose the different type of meshes based on your need.

All materials have met Australian standards.

Type of Mesh:

Fibreglass mesh: Standard meshed widely use in Australia, good for stopping bugs and flys coming into your house. Highly flexible and easy to install. But does not provide enhanced strength for pets scratches.

Pet mesh: It uses PVC coated, heavy gauge Polyester mesh. Best used for screening pets and strong resistance to scratches and bites.

Steel mesh: Supreme strength and toughness for extra protection against fire and corrosion. It is best used for coastal areas and features great visibility small size squares. It has met the Australia Standard AS3959-2009: Construction of Buildings in Bushfire-prone Areas.

Midge Mesh:

Best Recommended for waterfront houses, properties in the tropical & tidal region with wet soils nearby.

Midge work is intended to confine littler creepy crawlies, for example, sand flies or midge-sort bugs from infiltrating the bigger openings that are in standard flyscreen or pet verification flyscreen. Ideal for humidity and moisture environments.

Australia has more than 270 known types of Culicoides. Despite the fact that there are no known ailments that are related to these bugs their nibbles can be quite devastating and especially undesirable. Different individuals have distinctive responses to gnawing midge chomps; some experience minor tingling while others can have tingling that goes on for a considerable length of time that if not treated can end up noticeably contaminated because of the skin being uncovered. The exceptionally fortunate individuals among us can have definitely no issue with gnawing midges; tragically, these individuals are in by far most. Gnawing midges cherish the blood of individuals.

Recess fix: Our standard window grille frame is 11 mm thick at the outer wall. This is so they may be fitted into the same recess on a window as a screen. They can then be fixed in place by riveting or screwing to the window recess either internally or externally. As there are a large variety of window extrusions a decision has to be made by the person installing the screen.

Face fix: When there is no recessed area provided for a screen the grille is simply fitted to the face of the window frame either internally or externally by drilling through the frame of the window surround, and screwing or riveting in place. Great care must be given to not interfere with the operation of the window’s action, E.g. Window spirals etc.

METHOD

1. How to measure an existing screen:

If you have existing screens and they are a good fit, then the easiest way to measure for new ones is to remeasure your old ones, ensure that you measure the recess width and advise us if it varies from the industry standard width of 11 mm.

Note: Do not take measurements from the centre in case the screen is bowed.

Screen Width: Measure from the outer edge of the frame top and bottom, record the smallest measurement. Note: There should be maximum of 3 mm variation in the two lengths, if the variation is greater contact us to discuss solutions 02 8764 4628.

Screen Height: Measure the height left and right, record the smallest measurement.

Recess Width: Using a solid ruler measure the width of your recess, advise us when placing your order if your recess width is other than 11 mm.

2. How to measure for a new screen (face fixed):

Note: The safest method of measuring is to fit the screen to the face of the window and this is sometimes the only option. You would then drill through the frame of the window surround, and screw or rivet in place.

Screen Width: Measure the recess top and bottom, record the smallest measurement.

Screen Height: Measure the height left and right, record the smallest measurement.

3. How to measure for a new screen (recess fixed):

Screen Width: Measure inside recess of windows where screen will be located, top and bottom then deduct 2-3 mm to allow fitting clearance and record the smallest measurement.

Screen Height: Measure inside recess of windows where screen will be located, left and right then deduct 2-3 mm to allow fitting clearance and record the smallest measurement.

Recess Width: Using a solid ruler measure the width of your recess, advise us when placing your order if your recess width is other than 11 mm.

Recess Depth: Using a solid ruler measure the depth of your recess, advise us when placing your order if your recess depth is other than 11 mm.

Pop Rivet Face Fix:

Use a 3mm drill bit to pre-drill the holes then use 3mm x 15mm rivets to face fix the screens to the outside of the window frame.

Rivets should be placed 50mm away from each corner and space at least 30mm apart.
Pop Rivet Recess Fix:
Fit the screen into the recess, use a 3mm drill bit to pre-drill the holes, then use 3mm x 15mm through the recess and the window screen to fix into place.

  1. Where do I measure for my fly screens?
  2. Before you measure you need to establish where exactly how you are going to fix the fly screen to the window. There are two basic types of external fixing.

Recess fix: Our standard fly screen frame is 11 mm thick at the outer wall. Fixing can be by riveting or screwing either internally or externally. There are literally thousands of window extrusions, so a hard and fast way of fix is impossible to calculate. This decision has to be made by the person installing.

Face fix: This type of fixing is when their is no recessed area provided for a fly screen, and the screen is simply fitted to the face of the window by drilling through the frame of the window surround, and screwing or riveting directly to the face of the window outer sill and surround. Great care must be given to not interfere with the operation of the window’s action, eg. window spirals etc.

To measure for a recess fix is difficult to access, because of the many variations in styles. One simple method is to remeasure the existing fly screen if it is a good fit, and a fix can be obtained. If this option is not available than you must be mindful of being able to fit into the recess and obtain a fix, whilst covering the window. Remember. Window grilles are not flexible. Fly screens are.

In most cases it is best to face fix if recess is difficult. Then you would simply measure where you would like the grille to fix.
