You can are not sure how to measure the screen size, you can always upload photos of your windows upon placing the order. Ensure you show the recess, window frames, and the area where the screen is placed. (multiple photos are welcome.)

In the event that you want to replace existing screens, the most effortless approach is to measure your old ones, please make sure that you measure the recess width and pick the right frame.

Note: Do not measure the width from the middle of the flyscreen, in case that it is bowed.

How to measure hinge flyscreen/ security doors?

Please check all our instructions & videos before placing your order. YOU NEED TO DEDUCT THE MEASUREMENTS YOURSELF. We will manufacture the doors exactly based on the size you provided.

You will need:

  • tape measure
  • Notes
  • Pens

IMPORTANT: Always measure from the outside looking in, you are facing the door from outside. You then can decide the lock side, whether it is on your left or right. Always measure exactly where you want your doors to be to be placed, your measurements must be to the nearest millimetre.

1.Measuring from an existing screen door: If you are happy with the fit of your current screen door, we suggest you measure this door and use the measurements for your new screen door.

Door Height: You need to measure twice from top to bottom of the screen door on both left and right sides. Input the smallest of the two measurements.

Door Width: You need to measure the top, middle and bottom widths of the screen door. Input all three measurements.

Lock Height: You can use the existing lock hold cut out if desired.  Please measure from the bottom of the existing screen door up to the centre of the existing striker.

2. Measuring for a new screen door:

Door Height: Take two measurements from top to bottom of the door frame on the left and right side. Please deduct 8mm from the smallest length and input the measurement.

Note: Bug seals are recommended to stop bugs coming into your property from the gap. You can purchase them as addons. For max protection, two bug seals can be purchased and installed on the top and bottom of the door. Generally speaking, one bug strip installed at the bottom will work.

Door Width:  Measuring the top, middle and bottom of your door frame, deducting 8mm for a single lock and 9mm for a triple lock from each. Record these measurements. Any variation in the middle measurement will be made to the lock side of the door, the hinge side will be de straight to avoid hinge bind.

Hinge Bind: If your middle width is longer or shorter, creating a bow in or out at the middle, this must be corrected. For a bow in the centre the hinge can be packed out (0.5 mm Hinge Packers are available on the Extras page). For a bow out, the hinge will have to be let in, this must be done by altering the timber door frame, however you can request to have the middle hinge raised, lowered or supplied with the door and not affixed.

Final Checklist:

Have you made your deductions: 8mm off all measurements?

Is your door lock on the correct side: Outside looking inwards.

Is your door lock above or below your existing handle deduct 60mm for below & add 125mm for above.
